Welcome to the Stevens Creek Striders!

Founded in 1981, the Stevens Creek Striders are an all-ages social trail running group in Cupertino, CA. Every Saturday morning at 8:30, you will find us at the Stevens Creek Reservoir parking lot, eager to spend the morning sharing the trails and each other’s company, often followed by brunch nearby.

Beyond our Saturday gatherings, we organize runs in other parks throughout the year, manage aid stations at several prominent races, and host our own race in September.

Runners (and hikers) of all backgrounds and abilities are welcome, whether you are new to trails or eyeing your next 100-miler. Please do not worry if you think you’re slow – we will naturally spread out during the run but also regroup regularly. No one is left behind, and no one will mind having more time to chat; we are here because we want to spend this time together.

We had a fun Predictive Run this morning – everyone predicts their time to finish a particular route, runs that route (more or less, since map interpretations vary), and the winner is the runner with the smallest delta. This year, Timmy nabbed our last bottle of R&W with 0:26 off his estimate.

After running, we enjoyed a potluck in the shade in Villa Maria, and there were lots of good plates to choose from.

It's a fun tradition, and it's been around since before I joined the club. Some folks end up on trails that they've never run before, too, because we start at a little bit of a different spot than our usual runs.

Wherever you're running, happy trails!

We are about a month out from Quicksilver, which means it’s time to start thinking about what shifts you want to sign up for! 🎉

The Bull Run Aid Station — Our Main Event
Bull Run is a critical aid station for the race. We’re staffing it from roughly 9 AM to 9 PM, and we see runners from both races come through twice on course. As you know, Quicksilver can have medical emergencies in the heat, and your presence out there genuinely helps prevent them. This is meaningful, important work — and it’s also a party.

The sign-up sheet is on the Facebook event page now (and also here – tinyurl.com/5yfaeznw ). We’d love it if you dropped a comment on the event page when you sign up — something like “can’t wait to help with the afternoon shift!” or “see y’all at Bull Run for the closing shift!” It sounds small, but comments help more club members see the event and get inspired by all the awesome people who are showing up.

Want to Do Even More?
The Quicksilver Run Club is also looking for volunteers in two additional roles:

🪦 Course Monitor at Hidalgo Cemetery — Some of you know that longtime Quicksilver runner and friend of the Striders, Pat Patterson, passed away recently. Pat was the longtime course marshal at Hidalgo Cemetery. If you want to honor his memory by bringing those extra fiesta skeleton vibes, dancing to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack all day, and directing runners where they need to go — the race needs you.

🚗 Early Morning Parking — Word on the street is that parking shift volunteers get extra special swag. Just saying.

One note: because Bull Run is so critical for runner safety, please only sign up for parking or cemetery duty if you’re doing it in addition to a Bull Run shift, not instead of one.

We love you all so much. We cannot wait to see you the second weekend of May, party all day, and help runners do some crazy awesome stuff.

And here's that sign up link one more time, to make it keep it easy to find: tinyurl.com/5yfaeznw

Hey, we had another great run this weekend! Lots of folks were back from a weekend of racing at Horseshoe Lake and Big Alta. We had good conversations and a strong crowd for brunch at Holder's afterwards – you know how the cycle goes; run to get hungry, eat to refill, repeat.

Next week, we'll be down at Villa Maria group site at our usual 8:30 for our annual Predictive Run. I'll give you a map for a 6-7 mile course, and you'll predict your time to finish the route. After the run, we'll share the picnic area for a potluck – so please bring something tasty to eat!
