Halloween is upon us, Holiday Party planning is in full swing (tickets are going fast!) and runners are getting ready for the NY Marathon (go Michele!), Javelina 100 and other classic late fall races. As we tick off the remaining goals we had for ourselves this year, it is hard not to starting thinking about plans for next year. Perhaps you’re thinking about running your first Marathon, or stepping up to ultra distances. Maybe you just want to get into a consistent groove with your running. Hopefully you have made some good friends in the club and have some training buddies to help you reach your goals in 2015.
Another seasonal ritual is jockeying for position in the upcoming round of ultra lotteries — Dec: Western States, Miwok, Hardrock and UTMB in Jan (to name a few). For those of you focusing on Western States, remember to see if you are also eligible for the Stevens Creek Striders lottery. Because of our longstanding relationship with the Western States race, and in particular the management of the Last Chance Aid Station, the governing body of the race has granted our club one automatic entry into the race. Check to see if you can benefit from another chance to run this historic race.
I hope to see many of you at the Holiday Party, and the rest of you on the trails!
